December is finally here, which for some sport fans means cold days and long nights on the terraces. The sporting calendar is getting thinner and thinner which ‘should’ give us ample time to get those Christmas presents sorted. But don’t worry, we won’t blame you for disregarding this and focusing on your sporting fix.

Today's penultimate Grand Prix of the season took place at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar, following yesterday's final Sprint event of the season. Red Bull's Max Verstappen comfortably emerged victorious in the otherwise incident-strewn main event, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri gifted the Sprint victory by team-mate Lando Norris.

Hull FC (https://www.hullfc.com) Wheelchair star Tristan Norfolk made his international debut in England’s 58-28 victory over Spain last Thursday. Norfolk made his England Wheelchair Rugby League debut over a year and a half after being named in his first England Performance Squad, back in April 2023.

Matchday 16 saw lots of football action in Yorkshire this weekend, following the international break last week, albeit some fixtures fell foul to the wintry conditions. Sheffield United faced Coventry City away from home, grabbing one point at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Both teams enter this League One encounter in different situations; the home side Barnsley are looking to strengthen their position in the league and continue to fight for the playoff spots come the end of the season. Meanwhile, their opponents Wigan Athletic are looking to avoid relegation into league 2 after a poor run of games.

Huddersfield Giants Women’s Amelia Brown is looking ahead to the 2025 Las Vegas Women’s International, which will be one of four matches played at the Allegiant Stadium. England women will face the Jillaroos (Australian women) in a women’s international, which will be played alongside two NRL fixtures as well as a Super League men’s fixture.

Autumn is well and truly here, and despite the worryingly colder days, it shouldn’t stop us from getting that bittersweet feeling of a slight chill as you watch a floodlit match. In football, with it being the November international break, the option to sit at home in the warm and watch from afar is also on the cards.

Just a week after the United States Grand Prix and Sprint race in Texas, Formula 1 was back in action again this weekend in high-altitude Mexico City for the next round of this year’s World Championship, and it was Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz who emerged with the victory spoils after a peerless victory.
