West Yorkshire Charities Focus4Hope And Brodstock Are Bringing People Together To Raise Vital Funds.

Challenge4Hope
Challenge4Hope
Challenge4Hope on 30 August 2026 is a welcoming, inclusive, fundraising event offering something for everyone, from experienced endurance athletes and those looking for a new personal challenge to people who just want a great day out.

Organised by Focus4Hope, the West Yorkshire charity supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship, and Brodstock, the charitable fundraising arm of Old Brodleians Rugby Club, the event aims to bring the community together in a fun, supportive environment, while helping vulnerable local people. There’s no pressure to compete and people can just turn up and enjoy the day if they prefer.

The event will be centred around the scenic 18-mile Brighouse Boundary Way Challenge, a demanding, predominantly off-road route which participants can run or walk. There’s an option to tackle the full circuit individually, or take part as part of a team of three, with each member completing approximately ten kilometres.

Craig Wood from Old Brodlians Rugby Club who is helping to organising the event said: “This promises to be a fantastic day out. Our team challenge is a great chance for local businesses, friendship groups and families to have a rewarding adventure together. You don't have to be an experienced runner to take part, but if you do want a challenge it won’t disappoint!”.

Keen to cater for those looking to push themselves even further, the challenge can be extended to two full circuits, creating an ultramarathon-distance event.

Other choices include:
A 5km Family Fun Run for participants of all ages and abilities (the route is in the grounds of Old Brodleians Rugby Club, so there are no roads to cross and no traffic to navigate)

70km or 100km circular routes for cyclists of all abilities, although the event is designed as a self-supported challenge with participants navigating independently throughou

The celebrations continue throughout the afternoon with a series of free sporting taster sessions for children, including netball, rounders, American flag football and rugby. Open to all young people, the sessions aim to introduce children to new sports in a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment.

As the day's challenges come to an end, everyone can relax and celebrate together with a community barbecue and live music into the evening, creating a festival atmosphere and recognising everyone's achievements.

Louise Reed, CEO of Focus4Hope concludes: “Every entry fee for the physical challenges or donation made will help support our life-changing work, while also enabling Brodstock to continue investing in charitable and community initiatives that make a lasting difference across our local area”.

The organisers hope Challenge4Hope will become an annual event that not only raises vital funds but also inspires people of all ages and abilities to get active and have fun while supporting their community.
