Over the last year, Google searches for ‘café with playground’ have increased by 133%, as more families look for days out that keep both children and parents happy. Fortunately, Yorkshire has no shortage of options. As England's largest county, it boasts everything from scenic country parks and farm attractions to village playgrounds and retail destinations, many of which offer excellent spots to grab a coffee while the children play.

To answer parents’ coffee needs, we spoke to the outdoor playground equipment experts at Playdale, who have pulled together five fab playgrounds in Yorkshire where parents can relax with a coffee.

If you're looking for a playground that offers much more than just swings and slides, Cannon Hall Farm is hard to beat. One of Yorkshire's most popular family attractions, it combines a huge outdoor adventure playground with animal encounters, indoor play and plenty of places for parents to grab a coffee while the children burn off some energy.

The outdoor Adventure Playground has been built on an impressive scale, featuring towering slides, a giant tube maze, climbing structures, rope challenges and a zip line for older children seeking a thrill. The Hungry Llama indoor play area has a large café-style restaurant serving food, snacks and hot drinks, with plenty of seating where adults can relax while keeping an eye on the children. Just bear in mind that entry to the playground is included as part of a paid farm admission ticket, rather than being a standalone attraction.

What sets Kilham apart is its peaceful village setting. While there isn't an on-site café, there are several excellent options nearby for parents in need of a caffeine fix. The Old Star, a traditional village pub just a short walk away, serves drinks and food throughout the week, making it a convenient stop before or after a visit. Those willing to venture a little further can pick up a coffee to go from Cheeky Squirrel Coffee Shop in Driffield or Elsie's Parlour, both just a short drive away.
