The Network of Pakistani Organisations (NPO) UK has welcomed the passing of the landmark Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which officially becomes law, marking a significant milestone in the UK’s ongoing efforts to tackle smoking and protect public health.

This historic legislation builds on the recommendations of the Khan Review, published in 2022, led by Professor Javed Khan OBE, one of the UK’s most respected figures in the public and voluntary sector.

A prominent member of the Network of Pakistani Organisations (NPO) National Council, Professor Javed Khan OBE has achieved another milestone in his illustrious career, which spans leadership roles across major national charities including Barnardo’s and Victim Support, and his current role with EQUI.

Professor Javed Khan OBE said:
“This new law is a generational solution to a generational problem. It is good for children, good for families, good for the NHS and good for the future of our country. I was honoured to have published the review that has been its driving force, from which millions of lives will be saved in a smoke-free Britain.”
