Jigsaws Childcare Nursery in Church Fenton has completed a £700,000 redevelopment, supported by Hethertons Solicitors, boosting capacity from 51 to almost 80 children.

The not-for-profit nursery, established in 2007, offers full-day care, wrap-around school clubs and provision for children with special educational needs. Its original pre-fabricated building has been replaced by a modern, energy-efficient two-storey structure, built off-site by Phoenix Building Systems with architects Henszel Designs, and craned into position over three days in August.

Hethertons Solicitors played a key role in the project, registering a new 21-year lease with HM Land Registry alongside landowners of North Yorkshire County Council, replacing the nursery's original 2022 agreement. The firm also completed the licence for works and advised on the contract with Phoenix Building Systems.

The legal work was led by Neal MacDonald, Assistant Property Solicitor, and Jessica Roberts, Head of Corporate. MacDonald said: "By securing a new 21-year lease and completing the associated licence for works, we've been able to provide Jigsaws with the certainty it needs to invest confidently in its future."

The new building will be rented over eight years, giving the nursery flexibility to adapt or relocate in the future if needed.
