Blippi's Big Adventure: The Youtube Sensation Taking His Show On The Road

As the daddy of a nine-year-old and a five-year-old, I've experienced Blippi fever not once, but twice. Over the years, a much-loved Blippi doll has made the journey from older brother to younger sister, surviving countless adventures along the way. For many parents, the bright blue and orange outfit has become as familiar as their own wardrobe, thanks to the colourful character's remarkable ability to captivate young audiences.

What began as a YouTube phenomenon has grown into a global children's entertainment brand. Blippi's energetic blend of curiosity, education and fun has amassed billions of views online, while expanding onto streaming platforms, merchandise, books and live events. This summer, the character takes another step beyond the screen as Be Like Blippi heads to the UK, bringing the songs, laughter and larger-than-life personality that children know and love directly to theatres across the country.

Ahead of the tour, I caught up with the man behind the phenomenon to discuss Blippi's enduring appeal, the evolution of the brand, and what young fans can expect when the live show arrives in the UK.

If you could explore anywhere in the UK with Meekah for a day, where would you go first?

We’ve been to SO many amazing places in the UK. We explored London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Hull and they were all so great! But, I think I'd love to take Meekah to a big working farm! We'd see TRACTORS, and maybe even a combine harvester, SO COOL! And then we'd feed the animals! How fun is that?

Which song gets kids dancing the most during the show?

Oh wow, I know exactly which one. Go Go Go, our new single with Yellowcard! Kids love dancing along to that song. And of course, The Excavator Song – kids start jumping on their feet and digging with their arms. It is the MOST amazing thing to see!

Do you still love excavators as much as ever, or do monster trucks give them a run for their money now?

Hmm, that is a TRICKY one! Excavators will always have a special place in my heart. They were one of the first big machines I ever explored! But I also love monster trucks with giant wheels, and the big engines. Ahhhh, I love them both! Don’t make me choose!

If Blippi could invent a brand-new dance move for the UK tour, what would it be called?

Ooooh I love this question! I love my Blippi Wiggle so much. I'm definitely going to do it on the tour. But oh, how about this: what if we kick left, kick right, then throw our arms up like we just scored a goal? What do you think we should call that one?

If you and Meekah went on a mystery adventure in London's West End, what do you think you’d discover?

Hmmmm...I think we'd find a secret underground tunnel! Or maybe even a hidden Tube station. Did you know London has secret stations that nobody uses anymore? How cool is that?!

Why do you think curiosity is such an important superpower for kids?

Curiosity makes learning SO much fun! When you're curious, you never stop learning and that's why I am SO curious! I love learning about new things every single day. A new vehicle, a new animal, a new place, there is ALWAYS something amazing waiting to be discovered if you just ask enough questions. How cool is THAT?!

If you could build your dream playground, what would have to be in it?

I would love a REAL excavator you can sit in and scoop sand! A giant monster truck you can climb all over and explore every single inch of! A water zone with sprinklers! A big discovery wall with buttons and levers and lights that do different things! And the TALLEST slide you have EVER seen!

What are Blippi’s three must-have items for going on tour?

Well, my suspenders and bow tie, obviously, hehe! Number two, my wonder watch AND my orange glasses, because every great explorer needs their gear! And number three, lots and lots of snacks! Maybe some apples, oranges, peanuts – got to make sure I got ALL the energy for the singing and the dancing!

Why is it important for kids to sing, dance and move around during the show?

It's SO important! When you sing and dance, you're not just having fun, you're building strength, learning rhythm, expressing yourself! And dancing is something Meekah is SO good at! She’s always inspiring me to move more and use my movement to express myself. When you move and discover things TOGETHER, with everyone around you? That's what the show is all about!

What’s one thing you hope children talk about all the way home after seeing the show?

I hope they turn to their mum or dad and say, 'I want to find out MORE about that!' Whether it's excavators or dinosaurs or monster trucks, I love the idea of kids leaving the show feeling curious, excited to explore and inspired to keep learning at home. I also hope children walk away wanting to move like, play like, explore like, and learn like Blippi in their everyday lives. That kind of excitement and curiosity is really special to see!

You’ve performed for millions of families around the world now, what’s the best thing about meeting Blippi fans live?

I LOVE meeting all my friends! I love dancing and singing with them. And the amazing drawings, the crafts, all those wonderful blue-and-orange gifts they bring! My friends are SO creative, and it warms my heart every single time!

What would you say to children coming to see Blippi live for the very first time?

This is going to be the MOST wonderful adventure! Get ready to dance, get ready to sing, and most importantly, bring your loudest RAWRs! I cannot wait to see you out there.
