B Braun UK Lifts Healthcare Coverage Of Workforce From 44% To 97%

Healthcare company, B Braun UK, has raised healthcare coverage across its 1,400-strong workforce from 44% to 97%, effective from 1st April, a transformation driven by direct employee feedback and delivered in partnership with workplace wellbeing specialists Howden.

The shift was driven by feedback from the employee forum, which indicated that the existing provision could be improved to better support their workforce. Rather than adjust what was already in place, B Braun UK went back to basics, asking employees what they needed and building a solution around those answers.

The centrepiece of the new offering is the Westfield Mosaic Plan, a health cash plan selected for its accessibility. Low employee contributions were a deliberate design choice, addressing the financial barrier that typically suppresses uptake among lower-paid and part-time workers. Employees can tailor their cover, add a partner, and benefit from automatic coverage for children on selected treatments at no extra cost.

The timing reflects a broader pressure point for UK employers. Research from Employee Benefits found that 83% of organisations have seen a rise in employee requests for wellbeing benefits, yet uptake of existing provision often remains low.

Helene Ghosh, HR Director at B Braun UK, said: "We took the time to listen and understand what our people needed and then worked with experts to design something that would make a real difference.

“Moving from 44% to 97% coverage is a huge step forward and something we’re incredibly proud of. At a time when many organisations struggle to engage employees with their benefits, achieving this level of coverage shows what’s possible when you truly listen and act on feedback.”

Jake Nunn, Associate Director of Business Development at Howden, said: “As workplace wellbeing experts, we know how important it is for benefits to reflect the real lives of employees.

“B Braun UK has taken a leading approach by actively listening to its workforce and acting on that insight. The result is a highly inclusive healthcare solution that supports both well-being and financial resilience.”
